Renamerly is a browser-based batch rename tool for product photographers, Etsy and Shopify sellers, and anyone else who has to turn IMG_4821.JPG into nike-airmax-90-black-01.jpg a thousand times a week.
Everything runs locally. Your files never leave your browser unless you explicitly use an AI feature. You do not need an account to try the core flow.
The five-minute path
Open the workspace
Go to
/app. You are dropped straight into the workspace — no signup wall, no free-trial clock.Drop your files
Drag a folder into the drop zone, or click to pick files. Images, RAW, PDFs, documents, audio, video, and ZIP files are accepted. Free plans allow up to 20 files per session; Pro is unlimited.
Group your files
Select the files that belong together (Shift-click a range, or check the row checkboxes), then click Group in the selection toolbar and type a bucket name like
hero-shots. The selected files collapse into a named group you can edit, rename, and export as a unit. Need a SKU instead? Use Set Metadata → sku in the same toolbar — SKU is just one of many metadata keys you can group by.Add per-image details
Click any row to open its metadata panel and fill in a descriptor (
front, back, detail) or any other token your filename references. Group-level defaults from the group header cascade down to every member; per-row edits override them.Choose a filename format
Click Format ▾ in the toolbar to open the unified Format menu. You'll find three sections stacked top-to-bottom: Templates (Apply / Save-as), the Format Builder (chip-by-chip editor with live preview), and Render flags (Readable Names).
The simplest path is the Photography · Manual Groups starter template. One click and the workspace is configured for
{group}-{descriptor}-{seq:3}{ext}with Readable Names on, sohero-shots-front-001.jpgexports asHero Shots Front 001.jpg. From there, drop chips into the Format Builder to compose anything else the token grammar supports —{sku}-{descriptor}-{seq:2}{ext},{val:brand}-{val:product}{ext}, etc. The live preview under every row updates as you edit. Pro users can promote any builder state into a reusable template via Save as Template.Export a ZIP
Hit Export in the top right. You get a single ZIP with every file renamed. Originals on disk are untouched.
That is the whole product.
Everything else in these docs is about making that flow faster, more precise, or reusable across hundreds of sessions — templates, CSV Import, token grammar, AI alt text, manual groups.
