Billing and plans

Free vs Pro, upgrading via Stripe Checkout, managing billing in the Customer Portal, cancellation, and refunds.

Last updated April 27, 2026

Plans at a glance

  • Free: 20 images per workspace session. Workspace Format Builder (full chip-based authoring). Manual groups, the unified Set Metadata flow, and all built-in starter templates. No saved templates, no CSV Import, no AI alt text.
  • Pro: Unlimited images. Unlimited saved templates (Save-as-Template promotes any builder state). CSV Import. AI alt text (20 requests per session).

See /pricing for the live price and the monthly vs annual options.

Upgrading

From anywhere in the app, click any Upgrade to Pro button (toolbar chip, sidebar CTA, dashboard banner, or the per-feature upgrade modal). You are redirected to Stripe Checkout to enter your payment details on Stripe's hosted page — Renamerly never sees your card number.

After Stripe confirms the charge, you're redirected back to your dashboard with a success banner. Pro features unlock instantly: any open workspace tab flips to Pro without needing a reload, and the Free-tier image cap is lifted for images already in your workspace.

Managing your subscription

From /dashboard/billing, click Manage Billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal in a new tab. Every subscription operation — update card, change plan, download invoices, cancel — happens inside the Portal, which is Stripe's hosted UI.

Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then. When the period ends, your account automatically reverts to Free. Any templates you saved remain in your account and remain usable — you just lose the ability to save new ones, import CSVs, and generate AI alt text.

Refund policy

We offer a full refund within 14 days of any charge, no questions asked. Reply to your Stripe receipt email or contact support via the pricing page.

Taxes and invoices

Stripe handles tax calculation in jurisdictions where it's required. Every charge produces an invoice available in the Customer Portal; VAT numbers can be added there.

What happens on downgrade

  • Your saved templates stay in the account but cannot be edited or created.
  • CSV Import and AI alt text are hidden.
  • The Format Builder stays available, but Save-as-Template is gated until you upgrade. Existing saved templates remain on the account in read-only mode — they can still be applied to a workspace, just not edited or duplicated.
  • The 20-image session cap reactivates. Images already in the workspace above 20 are kept; dropping new ones is blocked at the cap.
